The brief
What Halcyon came to us with.
Halcyon came to us ahead of their spring apparel drop needing a film that didn't feel like apparel advertising — something that sold the feeling of the brand rather than the product itself. The brief was intentionally loose: capture what it actually feels like to be surrounded by people who make you laugh. No product shots, no styled lifestyle clichés — just presence.
the approach
How we translated that into a creative direction.
We built the entire film around one visual idea: shooting up, not across. Every frame holds the sky as a constant, with the cast looking down into camera rather than out at it — an angle that makes the viewer feel like they're the one being looked at, being included, not watching from a distance. It's a small technical choice that does a lot of emotional work, and it gave the whole piece an identity you could recognize in a single frame.
production
The actual shoot.
Shot in a single day on location, with a lean two-person crew working handheld to stay close and reactive rather than blocking every beat. Casting leaned toward real chemistry over polish — friends, not models, direction limited to "keep talking, keep laughing." Natural daylight only, chasing cloud cover for consistency across the shoot window.
post production
The edit and finish.
The edit is built around rhythm rather than narrative — no dialogue carrying the story, just cuts timed to genuine reactions and a score added afterward to match. Color leaned warm on skin tones against a deliberately rich, saturated sky, so the frame reads as vivid without tipping into oversaturation. Delivered as a 60-second hero film plus four vertical cutdowns for paid social.
